Press Brake Forming
Process Overview
Press brake forming bends flat blanks into brackets, channels, panels, and frames. At Bison it follows laser blanking in the same controlled sequence. We form from the unfolded model and bend deductions already set for the tooling and material, so the bend lands where the drawing intends and the part is ready for welding or finishing.
All machine programming is done offline to maintain process control and limit variability.
Capabilities
Our bending capabilities depend on press-brake bed size, available tooling, forming force, material and part geometry. Our precision brakes use a bending database to help control bend angles, with programming adjustments for material thickness and grain direction.
Design Considerations
Minimum inside bend radius depends on material grade, temper, thickness and grain direction. We help select tooling and bend orientation to reduce the risk of cracking.
Features close to a bend line can distort while forming. Our offline programming software helps identify these features prior to bending.
Quality
We check flange length, angle, and flatness as process controls. First-article and in-process inspection plans support process control. Bending programs are saved and revision-controlled to help maintain consistent parts from one production run to the next.
